Green Cycle Drive

About Us

The Green Cycle Drive is an initiative which aims to raise awareness about climate change and to empower young environmentalists to make a difference in their community.
Our primary goals are to make everyone aware of proper waste disposal, to organize initiatives such as recycling drives for the protection of the environment, and to reduce the pollution we produce in our daily lives.

Achievements

Karama Recycling Drive

We had hosted a recycling drive in which our members collected recyclable plastics, cardboards, newspapers, etc. from our community. The waste was taken to the Karama Recycling Centre on where everyone who participated placed their garbage into the respective bins.

In the end, more than 1000 kilograms of waste was collected and recycled with the help of our members. This event was one of the most successful recycling drives we have initiated.

Desert Cleanup

The Al Qudra Lake, a beautiful location for sightseeing, is an artificial desert oasis located in Dubai that was designed to promote sustainable tourism in the area. It has multiple artificial lakes, dunes, and fauna surrounding it including over 175 different species of birds. As a result, we decided to take a step towards preserving the landscape.

Over the span of the event, our volunteers were able to collect 50 bags of waste while they enjoyed the scenery at the artificial reserve.

Park Cleanup

On the 22nd of October 2021, Green Cycle conducted a park clean-up which had nearly 80 volunteers, who woke up early to support our cause. This event was held at three parks simultaneously: Karama, Satwa and Mankhool Parks, to increase our coverage and to accommodate the large number of participants. The clean-up team was able to collect over a total of 50 bags across the 3 sites over the course of 2 hours. This initiative has successfully managed to raise awareness about waste disposal, to empower young environmentalists, and most importantly preserving the fragile environment that we live in.

Recycling Drive 2.0

Green Cycle conducted the Recycling Drive 2.0 during April and May of 2022. Our 320 diligent environmentalists, from grades 6 to 12, collected over 9,600 kilograms of recyclables within a span of 40 days. Every participant had collected over 10 kgs during the Holy Month of Ramadan which culminated in each of them arriving on the 7th and 8th of May to deposit their recyclables at the Karama Recycling Centre. The main goal of our drive was to promote recycling among young students so that they become sustainable citizens. We feel happy that our accomplishment led to inculcating a habit of recycling in our juniors.
